Overview

The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program is one of the three federal programs managed through Express Entry, the online immigration application system for skilled workers. It is designed for skilled workers who have work experience and want to become permanent residents of Canada. Candidates are selected based on their education, work experience, age, language skills, and ability to adapt to Canada’s workforce

Work Experience

At least 12 months of continuous full-time (or equivalent in part-time) skilled work experience in one of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER categories: TEER 0, TEER 1, TEER 2, TEER 3

Language Skills

Proficiency in English or French at a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 7 or higher. Test results from an approved language test, taken within the last two years, are required.

Education

A Canadian high school diploma or equivalent foreign education, validated by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from a designated agency.

Points Score

A minimum score of 67 out of 100 on the FSWP points grid, which assesses:  Education (up to 25 points) – Language Proficiency (up to 28 points) – Age (up to 12 points) – Work Experience (up to 15 points) – Arranged Employment (up to 10 points) – Adaptability (up to 10 points)

 

SETTLEMENT FUNDS

Applicants must have sufficient funds to support themselves and their family in Canada. The required amount varies based on family size:

  • Single applicant: $14,690 CAD
  • Family of two: $18,288 CAD
  • Family of three: $22,483 CAD
  • Family of four: $27,297 CAD
  • Family of five: $30,690 CAD
  • Family of six: $34,917 CAD
  • Family of seven: $38,875 CAD
  • Additional $3,958 CAD for each extra family member.
