Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker Program

Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker Program

Home Child-Care Provider and Home Support Worker Pilots

The Federal Government of Canada introduced the Home Child-Care Provider and Home Support Worker Pilots in June 2019 to meet the increasing need for caregivers in the country.

These programs aim to provide a clear pathway for foreign caregivers to work in Canada and eventually gain permanent residency. The Home Child-Care Provider Pilot focuses on individuals experienced in NOC 4411, who have provided care for children under 18 years old either in the child’s or employer’s home.

Meanwhile, the Home Support Worker Pilot is tailored for those with experience in NOC 4412, excluding housekeepers but including Home Support Workers.

Home Child-Care Provider Pilot:

These five-year pilot programs offer eligible caregivers and their families the chance to relocate to Canada and pursue permanent residency.

One of the unique aspects of these programs is the concurrent application process for a work permit alongside the permanent residence application.

Successful candidates are granted an occupation-restricted open work permit, enabling them to work with most employers, with a few exceptions on a government blacklist.

Upon accumulating the required 24 months of work experience, applicants can submit proof to finalize their permanent residency application.

  • Designed for individuals with work experience in NOC 4412.
  • Suitable for applicants with experience as Home Support Workers, excluding housekeepers.
Essential Requirements:

The application process involves multiple steps, starting with obtaining a Job Offer of Employment from a Canadian employer, acquiring language proficiency and educational credentials, and then submitting applications for Permanent Residency and a Work Permit simultaneously.

Additionally, applicants may apply for an Open Work Permit from their home country if eligible.
