Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP)

The Program

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) presents a seamless and efficient pathway for skilled foreign workers to secure Canadian permanent residence, catering to the labor needs of the Atlantic Provinces – New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia Launched in 2017, the AIP transitioned to a permanent program from January 1, 2022, succeeding the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) . With an aim to support the economic growth of the region, AIP facilitates employers in Atlantic Canada to recruit foreign skilled workers, thereby addressing local labor shortages

Program Features:

The AIP includes the Atlantic High-Skilled Program (AHSP) for Level O, A, B occupations and the Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program (AISP) for Level C occupations. Candidates must have a job offer from a designated employer and an individualized settlement plan. Notably, employers offering jobs to candidates under the AIP do not require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)

Program Requirements:

Candidates need a job offer from a designated employer, an endorsement certificate, and a commitment to apply for permanent residency within 90 days of receiving a temporary work permit. Employers must be designated by the province and provide support to newcomers. Applicants require an individualized settlement plan, a minimum of 12 years of education, and an Educational Credential Assessment. Language proficiency must meet or exceed CLB/NCLC level 4.

Application Components:

The application involves crucial elements such as provincial endorsement confirmation letter, completed Offer of Employment form, proof of work experience, among others.

Time:Approximately 12 to 18 months
