Canadian Experience Class
Overview
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an Express Entry based immigration program through which skilled workers and students with at least one year of Canadian skilled work experience can apply for permanent residency. Canadian experience helps candidates earn more Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points under Express Entry, thereby increasing their chances of getting permanent residence in Canada.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for CEC, applicants must:
- Have 12 months of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in NOC TEER Categories 0,1,2,3 within three years of applying.
- Meet language proficiency levels equivalent to CLB 7 for TEER 0 or 1 jobs, or CLB 5 for TEER 2 or 3 jobs.
- Plan to live outside Quebec.
Work experience gained through self-employment or as a full-time student does not count.
How to Apply for CEC:
- Obtain a Canadian work permit.
- Gain at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada.
- Ensure you meet all other eligibility requirements.
- Create an Express Entry profile.
- Wait for an ITA for permanent residence.
- Undergo a medical exam and provide a police clearance certificate.
- Receive confirmation of your permanent resident status.
The CEC offers a direct fast-track pathway to permanent residency for those who have studied and worked in Canada, capitalizing on their Canadian experience.
